Right To Bear Arms

In 2008, the United States Supreme Court handed down a decision stating that the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution the right to keep and bear arms applies to the individual. That decision, however, stopped short of including the very next sentence - "the right of the people shall not be infringed".

Some have argued that this is somehow a separate idea, thus opening the door for state and local government to pass gun control laws at a local level. I believe that "the right of the people" is NOT a separate idea, and state and local governments do not have the authority to override an individuals 2nd Amendment rights.
