Energy Policy
For years we have been hearing about how we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Congress needs to lift the 26 year old ban on offshore drilling. This would be an enormous victory for the American people who have been hurt by the high cost of gasoline and diesel. As you know, lifting the offshore drilling ban is a first and essential step toward an affordable energy independent future. However, this victory would be only the first step. Congress still needs to create a comprehensive energy strategy that includes clean coal, nuclear, wind, solar, biofuels, flex-fuel cars, hydrogen, and awarding prizes for technological breakthroughs. This would be the single largest step toward economic recovery in recent times.
